ManyChat alternatives for teams that sell in the DMs (and when to stay)

The right ManyChat alternative depends on what you've outgrown. ManyChat is strong at DM automation, like sending a DM to everyone who comments a keyword on a reel. Teams with DM setters, the people who work your Instagram and Facebook DMs to qualify leads and book calls, need more than that. They need a shared inbox, a sales pipeline, reporting on each setter, and revenue tied to the post each lead came from. ManyChat's docs describe a shared inbox on higher plans but no pipeline, no reporting on each human setter and no revenue per post. For those needs the options are an all-in-one CRM like GoHighLevel or a DM sales tool built for setters like Mochi, Winly (formerly Revio) or Ellipsend.
Many "ManyChat alternatives" lists you'll find are written by one of the alternatives. This one is written by a vendor too. So instead of a ranking, you get the criteria, what each tool documents on its own site, and the gaps. Pick on those.
I ran one of the top ManyChat agencies globally. ManyChat handles the automation side well. The gaps show up on the day a human has to take over the conversation.
When is ManyChat still the right tool?
ManyChat is still the right tool when automation does the selling. If someone comments "GUIDE," gets a DM with a link, and buys a $27 product without talking to anyone, ManyChat does that well and cheaply.
It's built for that job. It handles comment-to-DM, story replies, DM keywords and a flow builder. It reaches past Instagram into WhatsApp, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram, SMS and email. As of October 2026, paid plans for new accounts start at $17 a month, with Pro at $39, Business at $99 and Advanced at $199, billed monthly. Billed annually, Essential works out to $14 a month. ManyChat also says it's an official Meta Business Partner.
Stay on ManyChat if you're a creator or a low-ticket seller, nobody on your team sells in the DMs, and your main goal is growing a list or delivering a link fast.
What do setter teams need that ManyChat doesn't cover?
Once human setters are working the DMs, the job changes. A person has to qualify the lead, follow up and book the call, and someone has to see which of those conversations made money. Four gaps show up.
Users per plan. ManyChat caps users by plan. That's 1 on Free, 2 on Essential, 3 on Pro, 5 on Business and 10 on Advanced. Conversation assignment is listed from Business ($99 a month) upward. The pricing page lists no price for extra users. A team with six setters needs Advanced at $199 a month.
A sales pipeline. ManyChat contacts have tags, custom fields and saved segments. Its contacts documentation describes no pipeline or deal stages, so a lead can't move from "new" to "qualified" to "call booked" in a way the whole team sees.
Setter reporting. ManyChat's official Analytics article covers automation performance. It doesn't describe reporting on each human agent, like how fast each setter replies or what their conversations bring in.
Revenue tied to posts. ManyChat's newer Analytics tab (beta, Instagram only, paid plans) has a leaderboard with one row per post, reel, ad or story. It shows reach, engagement, automation sends, click-through rate and contacts captured. It doesn't mention revenue. So you can see which reel's automation sent 1,200 DMs, and the leaderboard doesn't show which of those people paid you.
You can patch some of this yourself. ManyChat connects to Google Sheets, Zapier and HubSpot, and custom fields can hold a sale amount. It gets harder once setters send links by hand in live conversations, because every sale then depends on someone logging it against the right lead.
What are the alternatives to ManyChat?
The alternatives fall into four groups, based on what they're built around. Pick the group first, then the tool.
Automation-first tools
These are the closest swap for ManyChat. Use them if automation is still the main job and you want a different price, interface or feature set.
- Inro. Instagram DM automation with comment-to-DM, story reply and mention triggers, an AI agent that answers comments and DMs, and a built-in contact CRM. Pro starts at €12.99 a month as of October 2026, metered by activated contacts, with up to 10 team members. No pipeline or setter reporting is described on its site.
- InstantDM. Instagram-only DM automation that says it runs on Instagram's official API. It covers comments, story replies, mentions, live comments and follow-gated DMs. Teammates can build and reply. It describes contact tags but no pipeline.
- Chatfuel. An AI agent platform for WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, with comment-to-DM and story reply triggers. Its site describes a shared team inbox and a lead pipeline (New, Qualified, Ready). It reports leads and cost per lead at the ad level.
All-in-one CRMs
Use these if you want DMs, pipeline, calendar and payments in one system and you're willing to set it up.
- GoHighLevel. A full CRM with sales pipelines, calendars, payments and workflows. Instagram DMs land in the same Conversations inbox as SMS and email. A workflow can fire on comments on a specific post and send a DM with buttons. There's an SLA dashboard with response time by user, though its setup article doesn't list Instagram, so coverage there isn't confirmed. Attribution covers ads through UTM tags and entry points like forms and calendars. We found no built-in report tying revenue to an organic Instagram post. Starter is $97 a month as of October 2026, and AI, SMS, email and calling are billed on usage on top.
- Kommo. A CRM with an Instagram offering that runs keyword comment-to-DM flows and moves leads through a pipeline, with one inbox across Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok and others. Base starts at $25 per user per month as of October 2026 on the six-month term, the shortest it offers. Advanced is $35 and Pro is $45.
Omnichannel team inboxes
Use these if your team answers messages across many channels and Instagram is one of several.
- respond.io. A team inbox for WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook with routing, lead distribution and lead management. Its homepage doesn't mention comment-to-DM. Starter is $99 a month as of October 2026, or $79 a month billed yearly. Growth is $199 and Advanced is $349, priced by contacts.
- SleekFlow. An omnichannel inbox with a social CRM, conversation assignment and team performance tracking. Its homepage doesn't mention comment-to-DM. Essential is $69 a month with 3 seats as of October 2026, or $49 a month billed yearly. The flow builder and AI agents start on Pro at $139 a month, or $109 billed yearly.
DM sales tools for setter teams
Use these if human setters sell in your DMs and you need to manage them and see what they bring in.
- Mochi. An Instagram DM sales workspace for setters and closers. It has setter and closer assignment, lead routing by percentage, a pipeline, and setter metrics that include response times, reply rates and revenue and commission per setter. Payments sync from Stripe and others. Its attribution page describes tracked links and a website pixel. It also sells an AI reply agent. Starter is $149 a month, Essential $297 and Pro $497 as of October 2026, billed monthly.
- Winly. A CRM for social selling teams on Instagram and Facebook, with its own login for each setter, closer and manager. Workflows trigger from comment keywords, story replies and messages. Its AI Copilot drafts replies for reps and its AI Sales Coach scores conversations. Rep analytics include speed to lead, and coaching is bundled with the software. Winly doesn't list prices publicly. Quotes we've seen are around $597 a month.
- Ellipsend. A DM sales platform for setter teams on Instagram and Facebook. It has keyword automations for comments, story replies, DMs, Live comments and ads, a shared inbox with a pipeline, and assignment split by percentage. It reports each setter's response rate and dollars per DM conversation (dollars per DM), and sales can be traced back to the post, story or ad the lead came from.
A different approach, AI that replies for you
Some tools replace the setter instead of supporting one. SetSmart sells an AI appointment setter that qualifies leads and books calls in Instagram DMs, starting at $25 a month for 250 AI messages as of October 2026. ManyChat, Inro, Chatfuel and Mochi all offer AI replies in some form too.
That's a real option for some offers. For high-ticket sales, the one I'd bet on is a fast human with good tracking. AI-reply tools are a different decision from the one this article covers.
How do the ManyChat alternatives compare?
This table only reflects what each vendor documents on its own site and help center, checked in October 2026. "Not stated" means we couldn't find it documented. It doesn't mean the tool can't do it.

| ManyChat | Automation | Yes | Users capped 1 to 10, assignment from Business | Not described | Not in official docs | Not in current docs, per-post automation stats only |

What do the ManyChat alternatives cost?
Prices are as of October 2026, billed annually where the vendor offers it, so they compare like for like. InstantDM and Chatfuel are left out because their pages show yearly billing only.
| Tool | Price per month, billed annually | What you pay for contacts |
|---|---|---|
| ManyChat | Free, then $14 / $29 / $69 / $139 | Priced by active contacts (25 to 25,000), extra contacts $0.004 to $0.10 each |
| Inro | Pro from €12.99 (billing term not read) | Priced by active contacts |
| GoHighLevel | $970 / $2,970 / $4,970 per year | Unlimited contacts |
| Kommo | $25 / $35 / $45 per user, 6-month term (shortest offered) | Lead limits per user (2,500 / 5,000 / 10,000) |
| respond.io | $79 / $159 / $279 | Price scales with contacts |
| SleekFlow | $49 / $109 | Essential unlimited active contacts, Pro from 500 |
| Mochi | $149 / $297 / $497 billed monthly, 25% off billed yearly (yearly prices not read) | Priced by active conversations (300 / 1,000 / 5,000) |
| SetSmart | $25 billed monthly (Light) | Priced by AI messages (250 on Light) |

| Ellipsend | Core $29, Pro $249, Pro+ $399, Premium $749 | Unlimited contacts on every plan, no per-contact fees |
Ellipsend never charges per contact, so a viral reel that floods your DMs doesn't raise your bill.
How do you choose a ManyChat alternative?
Start with who sells. If automation sells, stay on ManyChat or pick another automation-first tool. If setters sell, look at the CRMs and the setter tools.
Then make every vendor show you these on a live demo. Don't settle for a feature page.
- Show a lead commenting on a reel and the DM going out.
- Show that lead landing with the right setter, then moving through the pipeline.
- Show a sale recorded on that lead, and where the revenue for that one reel shows up.
- Show each setter's reply speed and what their conversations brought in, side by side.
- Show what happens when a setter sends a booking link by hand. Does the sale still trace back to the post?
- Show the full monthly price for your actual team size, including extra seats and usage charges.
Last, plan the move. Teams do run two DM tools on one Instagram account. What we've seen work is setting one app as the default routing app in the Facebook Page settings, and making sure the two tools don't answer the same trigger. That makes it practical to switch the sales conversations first and keep an automation you like running for a while.
Getting more from your DM sales with Ellipsend
Ellipsend is a DM sales platform for setter teams. Keyword automations start the conversation instantly, and your setters work those leads in a shared inbox with a pipeline. Sales can be traced back to the post, story or ad they came from, and each setter's dollars per DM sits next to their response rate. Reply speed and follow-ups come from the same conversations.
You can replace ManyChat with it or run the two side by side, with Ellipsend holding the conversations your setters sell in.
